Jack Lester looked back on the 2010-11 League Two championship-winning season as one of the many highlights in his six years at Chesterfield.

The 37 year old, who announced he’ll be leaving the club in the summer, also said his parents love the place; “My Dad’s always here but my Mum’s not always, she can’t handle the stress of it all.

“The Rotherham hat-trick, when it was a sell-out, was a special one but the Stockport hat-trick was best in terms of the goals.

“That season was fantastic, it was a lot of fun being here. The dressing room was brilliant, everyone around the ground had a smile on their face in the new stadium.

“It was an exciting time but the next year was the low point of my time here, but we still won at Wembley. That one day was something I’ll never forget.”

He’ll leave the club painstakingly close to 100 goals, he’s on 92 now and fifth in the all-time list.

Of the so-near milestone he rued: “It is frustrating, that’s why I was hoping to play for another year and get to that landmark but that’s not to be. I haven’t had the game time this season, if I had, I might have made it.

“I scored six or seven very quickly but haven’t had the starts since October. It was something I really wanted to do, I really wanted to get there.”

Lester has a message for the supporters that have idolised him: “Just a thank you really. My family’s really grateful for everything.

With the fans’ support I’ve played some of the best cheap football shirts uk of my career. I’ve had bad games here but they’ve always stood by me, so thanks!”
